» What are the differences between a subdomain and an add-on domain?
|
A subdomain is simply a folder in your public_html directory that you can access in this way: http://folder1.yoursite.com Anything you upload into /public_html/folder1/ will appear at http://folder1.yoursite.com An add-on domain is a domain name that points to a subdomain in your account. For example, your main account is yoursite.com. You have a domain name, xyz.com that you want to use with your existing account. Setting up an add-on domain will point xyz.com to http://folder1.yoursite.com BUT you will never see the real location. You and your site visitors will only see http://www.xyz.com in the address bar. |
